What is the Hormonal IUD Access Group?
A global consortium of governments, donors, researchers, manufacturers, procurement agencies, and service delivery groups collaborating to expand access to the hormonal IUD.
Since 2015, the Hormonal IUD Access Group has supported national governments interested in learning more about the hormonal IUD, planning for introduction, and scaling up the method through knowledge generation and exchange, technical assistance, and proactive management of market challenges. The Access Group is made up of four interconnected bodies:
Secretariat
Co-led by FHI 360 and the Clinton Health Access Initiative, the Secretariat is responsible for establishing Access Group priorities and facilitating information sharing and analyses.
Market Stewardship Group
Market Stewardship Group members fund efforts to bring hormonal IUD to global scale, procure hormonal IUD for use in LMICs, or manufacture and supply hormonal IUD. They collaborate to monitor introduction progress and market health and identify resolutions to introduction challenges.
Implementing Partner Working Group
Members are implementing NGOs funded to support government introduction of the hormonal IUD. The working group addresses in-country operational challenges and engages with country offices to track introduction progress.
Hormonal IUD Learning Network
All Access Group member organizations participate in the Learning Network, which hosts both semi-public (or invite-only) and public learning events focused on the hormonal IUD online and in-person.
